A very good year for the estate wines

2013 was a very premature year. The relatively high temperature that prevailed throughout spring favored a premature breaking of the buds and a fast development. Concurrently, it was a very productive year, with good yields that were reduced with green harvest up to 50% (for the red varieties). The summer was relatively cool with constant temperature (28-32°C), ideal for a good rate of photosynthesis, leading to a good maturation.

The harvest at the estate began August 9, and the grapes were in excellent condition. First, the Sauvignon blanc was picked, followed by the Chardonnay and from August 14-23 the Malagousia and the Assyrtiko. The red varieties were harvested from August 24 onwards. Intially, the Merlot was picked and then the Syrah. The harvest ended with the harvest of the Greek red varieties (Limnio, Mavrotragano, Mavroudi) the first week of September.

This year’s estate wines are now in the tanks and expected to be full-bodied with rich varietal aromas.
