Ktima Gerovassiliou Malagousia 2024 has been named “Best in Show” at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025 – the world’s largest and most influential wine competition. Among more than 18,000 entries from 57 countries, our wine earned its place among the Top 50 wines worldwide.

“Best in Show” is the competition’s highest distinction, awarded to just 0.3% of all wines tasted. To be considered for this honour, a wine must first receive a Gold and then a Platinum medal – a process that involves exceptional scrutiny and praise from the judging panel.

Tasting Note from Decanter's judges:

“There’s nothing like Santorini Assyrtiko – but there’s nothing like Malagousia from Greek Macedonia’s Epanomi, either. At first sniff, you might think it’s a member of the Muscat family. Keep sniffing and it might put you in mind of both Viognier and Albariño: it has both a visceral, honeycream charm as well as fluttering with rose petal and freesia floral notes, too. Nor does it disappoint on the palate: all of that aromatic richness is there, built into a whole in which you can find both brisk, apple-fresh acidity and the soft, cleansing bitter notes of dried herbs and grapefruit. It’s quite a performer, as you see, and a sure-fire conversation wine for serving with or without food. If you or your wine friends have never tried it, seek this wine out: it will expand your horizons.”

This recognition is a top confirmation of decades of work by Ktima Gerovassiliou, which was a pioneer in the revival and promotion of the Malagousia grape – now considered one of the most emblematic ambassadors of the Greek vineyard.

Additional distinctions for Ktima Gerovassiliou at DWWA 2025:
