The 2025 harvest at Ktima Gerovassiliou was characterised by ideal weather conditions and ripening, which had a positive impact on the dynamics and quality of this year's production.

Winter

The winter was cold, with several days of low temperatures—mainly in February—which, however, did not fall below zero. Rainfall was adequate, especially in December, helping to restore soil water reserves after the dry summer of 2024.

Spring

Spring began with a gradual temperature rise, leading to normal bud break in the second week of March. Temperatures remained balanced, without extreme variations, while beneficial rainfall boosted the vines’ vitality. Flowering progressed smoothly in the second week of May.

Summer

June was cool and dry, which helped prevent disease. The relatively low temperatures for the season slightly delayed the ripening stage (veraison), which took place in the last week of July.

July and August went smoothly, with normal daytime temperatures and cool nights, which favored the uniform ripening of the grapes.

The beneficial rain on the last day of July helped the vines maintain their balance and allowed the different varieties to ripen successively, thus facilitating the planning of the harvest.

Harvest

The harvest began on August 12 with Sauvignon Blanc. Thanks to favourable weather conditions, all varieties were harvested at their ideal moment.

This year's harvest was one of the longest in recent years, lasting a total of 50 days, which allowed for careful selection and the maximum expression of each grape.

In terms of quantity, white wines saw an increase of approximately 10% compared to the previous year, thanks to excellent fruit set and healthy grape growth. For red wines, quantities remained at the same levels, as green harvest was applied to optimise the quality and concentration of the fruit.

The 2025 white wines are already impressive for their intense aromatic character, perfectly balanced acidity, and purity of fruit.

For the reds, the mild summer temperatures led to excellent phenolic ripeness, with ripe but cool fruit, velvety tannins, and lively acidity that ensures a long finish and excellent balance. The first samples show wines with significant potential for development.

After the harvest

After the harvest was completed, there was satisfactory rainfall (approximately 70 mm), which contributed to the restoration of the water table and the proper lignification of the shoots. These conditions are expected to ensure good vineyard management and create optimism for the next growing season.
