Harvest 2011 in Domaine Gerovassiliou
The mild winter, the moist spring and the relatively cool summer had as a result to delay the sprouting of the buds and the flowering for about 7-8 days. However, with the appropriate management practices, we accomplished to have a delay of 3-4 days compared to last year's harvest. The harvest at Domaine Gerovassiliou, in Epanomi began 18th August with the varieties of Sauvignon blanc, Viognier and Chardonnay, with very low yields of 5500-6000kg/ha giving us exceptional intensity of regional varietal characters. The grapes were at an excellent sanitary state, with good acidity and potential alcoholic degrees of 12,5-13%.

The last week of August the variety of Merlot was harvested with very good phenolic maturation, acidity and high content in sugars. Beginning of September the white grape varieties of Malagousia and Assyrtiko were picked and the red Syrah and Grenache Rouge. Sunday 18th and Monday 19th September the harvest was completed with the red varieties of Limnio, Mavroudi, Mavrotragano!
In general, this year's harvest was a bit late and went smoothly with no problems. Waiting for the new wines to come out!
