The first Greek urban vineyard in Thessaloniki!

Domaine Gerovassiliou in collaboration with the Viticulture Laboratory of AUTH and the municipality of Thessaloniki will create the first Greek urban vineyard in our city.

The vineyard will be planted in a two acres field, owned by the municipality, across the Kaftatzoglio Stadium. The preparation of the soil has already begun and at the beginning of April 480 vines of Greek wine varieties will be planted. The white varieties will be Robola and Malagousia and the red Agiorgitiko and Xinomavro.

The urban vineyard will initially have an educational purpose and it will be open to schools and tourists. The wine produced could be auctioned for community purposes, following the example of Paris where an urban vineyard already exists.
